The inclusion of an obi (information strip next to the cover) and additional content also makes Japan edition records special for collectors.
Obi is a colored stripe or label that comes with the album cover on Japan edition records, usually containing information in Japanese. It is a detail that shows that it is exclusive to Japan. Insert is the booklet or informative supplementary materials provided with the record. It can contain lyrics, album information, or special content about the artist. Obi and insert increase the originality and collectible value of a record.
Mint (M)
Paste: It has never been used, it is in perfect condition.
Cover: It is flawless. There is no deformation of the corner, edge or surface.
Near Mint (NM / M-)
Paste: It has been used very little. There are no visible obvious marks.
Cover: It is very close to perfect. There is no obvious wear, fracture or writing.
Excellent (EX)
Paste: It is very close to NM. There may be slight surface marks that can only be noticed on very careful inspection. Sound performance is not affected.
Cover: It is in very good condition, close to NM. There is no plaque trace (ring wear).
Very Good Plus (VG+)
Paste: Fine surface scratches are present, but do not affect sound quality.
Cover: Wear on the edges and corners, slight wrinkles or ring wear may occur at the beginner level.
Very Good (VG)
Paste: There are obvious scratches and surface marks. Crackling and background sounds can be heard, but it does not skip and is listenable.
Cover: Significant wear, writing, sticker residue, tear or seam split may be seen.
Not: Condition in products Record / Cover (example: VG+ / EX). Detailed defects are shared separately in the product description.
